One of the most fulfilling things in this life is when we are able to achieve our goals and live the life we wanted. If you have that goal in mind that you have been thinking of for so long but you never had started or accomplished it, here is a guide that will help you learn how to achieve your goals.
- Decide what you want to achieve. This will define your goals in life. Make your goals specific and pick goals that are achievable or realistic. One best way that will help you focus and achieve your goals is to put it in writing.
If you have a big goal in mind break it down to smaller ones so you can clearly see how you will progress on achieving your goals. If you want to lose 20 pounds in 6 months, you might want to break it down to losing 3 to 4 pounds each month, which would sound like attainable.
- Believe in yourself and stay positive about life. Even if how many people say you can’t do it, you must believe you can. Think that everything is possible if you believe. A positive attitude will help you keep moving and, for sure, will open more opportunities on how to achieve your goals.
- Condition your mind and your subconscious about your goal in mind. Our mind makes wonders in giving us the motivation to do what we should and the more we train our minds to ‘see’ what we want, the more it will attract our goals, desires and aspirations. Visualization is a powerful tool that will also help you stay committed on achieving your goals.
- Set a priority. If you have several goals in mind, set priorities on which one you will tackle first. This will help you stay focused on one goal at a time and not being distracted by so many things you want to achieve, which will most likely end in disorganization.
- Set a time frame by which you want to achieve your goals. This will help you get moving and this will also motivate you to get moving. As soon as you are done with one goal, you can always jump to another.
- Plan how you will work on your goals. Make a plan on how to achieve those goals by listing down activities that you need to do. If your short-term goal is lose 4 pounds each month, you might probably want to get rid of soda, or you might want to reduce the number of times you eat out in fast foods, or you may want to enroll in a cardio exercise or get involved into sports.
- Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Determine your limitations. Find resources that will help you develop your skills and abilities. Do not just settle for what you know, continue learning.
- Take action. Work on your goals. Give time to work on it everyday and stay happy. Love what you are doing. You will find fulfillment in the end that you have worked on your goals without depriving yourself of happiness.
- Celebrate your success. If you are able to accomplish your goals, recognize that you have indeed gone a long way and you are able to accomplish something, so enjoy it.
It is not enough to know how to achieve your goals in life. A goal will only remain a wish if you will not take action on it. So start now.
