So while drinking alcohol and not smoking aren’t rituals, they will put stress on your body and face which will make you look less than refreshed, and make you feel like you need more makeup than you actually do.

There is one simple trick for looking like a natural beauty, and that is to look refreshed. Each of these 10 daily rituals will help you to keep your complexion radiant and reclaim your natural beauty.

1 Cleanse & Tone

To keep your skin healthy, fresh and clean, choose a cleanser and toner combination that is right for your skin, and use it in the morning and after.  Make sure that you always remove all traces of makeup before you go to sleep.  If you find that you’re skipping this simple ritual choose a cleanser/toner combination that can be used in the shower. Team this with a day moisturiser (used in the morning) and a night moisturiser for just before bed.  If you’re not a fan of wearing foundation try a tinted moisturiser for during the day and always choose one with sunscreen.

2 Regular Haircuts

Keeping your hair a healthy length

Make sure you’re getting regular cuts and having all split ends or dry hair cut away. If this means you need to lose a few inches of length feel the fear and do it anyways, it will completely change your look for the better.

3 DIY Manicure & Pedicures

Dark coloured nails may look elegant, but they’re neither natural nor easy to upkeep. Keep it simple, soak your nails in warm water, use cuticle cream to remove cuticles, file your nails so they don’t go past the end of your fingers, and finish with either a coat of clear, light beige or a soft pink.

4 Sunscreen

Sun is the enemy if you are trying to keep your skin looking young and refreshed. Ensure you use sunscreen every day. The easiest way is by using a moisturiser or foundation with SPF. If you don’t like foundation, try a tinted moisturiser or tinted sunscreen.

5 Hats & Sunglasses

Hats are functional and cute – not to mention can hide a multitude of sins. If your hair is oily or you just couldn’t be bothered styling, choose a nice cap or feminine beret.

Sunglasses are a must have fashion accessory. They don’t have to be bug eyed sunnies like the pop tarts wear, try a sporty pair of Oakleys or fashionable Ray Bans, which ever suits your face and personality best.

Hats & sunglasses also serve a purpose in keeping the sun away from your face, and most importantly, out of your eyes. Squinting into sunlight is bad for your eyesight and increases wrinkles around your eyes. Chances are you’re going to have wrinkles anyways, why increase them by squinting?

A professional eyebrow wax can open up your face and leave you looking fresher and younger. Maintain your brow shape in between waxing using tweezers, but be careful because if you pluck too much they eventually won’t grow back. Use a clear brow gel to tame your eyebrows and stimulate growth and a brow powder to create extra shade and shape.

7 Sleep

Are you getting enough sleep? Burning the candle at both ends will eventually show up on your face with a change in your complexion and dark under eye circles. The easy way to combat this is to get enough sleep.

If you feel you need more sleep at night, there is nothing wrong with taking an afternoon nap – but not for too long.

Permanent sleep lines on your face can be caused by sleeping on one side all the time, the way to avoid this is to use silk or satin pillowcases, and use night time moisturiser.

8 Water

When you’re dehydrated your skin won’t look its best. To look refreshed make sure you’re never feeling thirsty, and do your best to get 8-10 glasses of water each day. 9 Concealer

There is no need for heavy foundation every day.  Use a small dab of concealer on any blemishes. Choose a concealer with salicylic acid to help combat blemishes for the future.

10 Oils

If you notice your skin is becoming extra dry in patches, try using evening primrose or olive oil. Simply massage the oil into your face instead of moisturiser before going to sleep. These oils can also be used to soften cuticles or a couple of drops on a cotton ball can remove mascara after a night out.
