This afternoon I read a piece in a local “news” paper, which basically said that females in the United States Marine Corps are conducting patrols in Afghanistan. This disturbed me greatly, espescially with the byline about female Australian soldiers not being able to patrol. Two issues are this,  in both countries, women are not allowed in the infantry or combat roles (such as gunner, armoured or artillery) but we are allowed to serve in the combat units as support.  It is now possible to be posted to an infantry unit …

I first heard about Gina Carano (left in the photo) through a mutual friend. I was in Thailand, attending a full-time MMA and Muay Thai Kickboxing training camp when we were discussing females fighters and the tendency for tough girls to end up looking like men.
